Machinefabriek M. Bronneberg BV has a rich history that starts with the great-grandfather of the current owner and director, Boris Bronneberg.

Willem Jan Bronneberg was a blacksmith who traveled with horse and carriage from Venlo to Aachen to do ironwork for farmers. After he had earned enough money with this, he opened a forge with a hardware store in 1907 in Helmond, where
he also opened a butcher's shop with his wife, the butcher's daughter.

Mathias Bronneberg, better known as Tjeu, took over the forge in 1935 and expanded the business further by starting a machine factory in 1946. Here he designed presses, scissors and other machines which were supplied on a worldwide scale. Due to its great success, the company moved in 1957 to a bigger location in Helmond, where it continued to produce many revolutionary machines together with the small forge.

Unfortunately, due to illness, Tjeu could no longer sustain the company and decided to transfer his company to his son, Jan Willem Bronneberg. Jan Willem was the owner from 1968 to 1973, until he decided to use his knowledge and talents on an international scale. He sold part of the machine factory and turned the remainder into a privat company pension for his parents.

After the death of Mathieu and his wife, the family decided that Boris Bronneberg, the son of Jan Willem, could take over the shares of the company in 2006. Boris Bronneberg expanded the company further by setting up the subsidiary M. Bronneberg Handelsmij BV, a trade company.

De Handelsmij trades in special metals, precious metal-containing waste streams and separates these metals from shredded streams using modern EC technology.

Over the years, Boris Bronneberg, together with Faron van Lieshout, developed the groundbreaking HIS technology to separate and recycle metals from the gold and platinum group as environmental friendly as possible. In 2017 they decided to set up the new company BOFAR together to specialize further in building separation- and recycling installations.
